The story behind the art
Often one of the first pops of sunshine in the botanical world flowering from March to October, Dandelions are often thought of as a pesky weed rather than a bloom to be celebrated. Providing food for early pollinators, they have been used in medicine and cooking for centuries.
Some say the jagged leaves on the Dandelion resemble the teeth on the jaws of a lion, their lion's mane heads are symbolic of the sun, their fluffy seed heads, the moon and their dancing seeds in the wind, the stars...blow the seed heads and make a wish, the seeds will carry your thoughts and dreams to loved ones.
Created to celebrate the beginning of Spring for my solo exhibition at Le Pinardier, Deal, Kent, Spring 2024.
